Dili and Nic discuss Simon’s recent announcement, the return of the DuetscherBierPokal, and why grapefruit beer is an acquired taste. After a conversation with his wife, Nic wonders if buying people alcohol for Christmas is acceptable in Germany, who doesn’t want a pint of wine around the Christmas tree? We also talk about boycotting the World Cup, celebrity activism, and the proposed changes to the benefits system in Germany.
All around the country, Christmas markets opened for the first time since the pandemic began. We share our tips for how best to enjoy their return, and argue over whether having hair that smells like bratwurst is really such a nice thing. Sausages aside, we may see the return of cheap rail travel after a summer with the €9 ticket, it’s successor will now be €49. Is this a good deal, and why might we have to wait to enjoy it?
Finally, we return to the ongoing soft drink wars in Bavaria, as the battle rages over Spezi, who’s called in the big guns to ride to the rescue?
